Salalah Bits, Dearest Daddy 1.0

This blog is about our precious moments back in the 90's living a wholesome life in Salalah.
There may be various versions out there, this one is mine.

Dearest Daddy

I was 8years old
And I distinctly remember
How I was leaning forward
Excitedly kissing your cheek
From the backseat of our black Toyota Corolla
It was when you took us out
For a surprising late-night drive
How we'd have a small halt by Wateeka
For a quick soft serve
In the hot-hot gulf
You were tireless

Dearest Daddy,
You'd work through a hectic day
Yet taking us out for a quick spin
Was a ritual
Sometimes, by the Salalah airport
For some pizza & soda

Sometimes towards Ittin for night picnics
I still remember the smell
Of the muddy mushy grass
It was during Khareef where our
Once a week ritual evolved into a daily routine
Relaxing under the cool breeze
Playing UNO cards
Devouring our favourite chilly chicken
From Chinese cascade
Discovering fallen baby coconuts
Peeling them off layer by layer
To our heart's content

Back then when there were no gadgets
Just a Pager
A plain simple Tv
Game boy and Tamagotchi

We truly lived an amazing beautiful natural life

Dearest Daddy,
I remember how you used to bring
Latest movie cassettes
To keep us entertained during the weekend
And we'd watch the movie over and over again
Because we knew we wouldn't get to watch it again
For it was a rented one

Stay tuned for the 2.0 version for more!
Kindly post your comments if you can relate to this.
Much love
90's Kid
